How to protect yourself from viruses while online:

  • Always download the most current security updates for your internet browser.
  • Never respond to requests for personal information via e-mail. Hawaii State FCU will never ask for any personal information in an e-mail. Be wary of e-mails which ask for your personal information, it can be a scam.
  • Visit websites from your list of favorites or by entering the URL in your address bar. Sometimes following links in an e-mail to a particular web site will take you to a spoofed site created by a scam artist who is looking to steal your information.
  • Check to make sure the Web site is secure. Before you enter any personal information, check to see if the web site uses encryption to transmit your personal information. In Internet Explorer you can do this by checking the yellow lock icon on the status bar located at the bottom right side of the screen.
  • Routinely review your credit card and bank statements.
